Maeda Matsuo(前田松夫)was born in Tara, Saga Prefecture, Japan, in 1893. After studying in Tokyo and completing his military service, he spent several years in Manchuria and Korea before moving to Shanghai in 1921, where he lived and worked for more than two decades.

Maeda Matsuo was born in 1893 in Tara, Saga Prefecture, as the eldest son of a farming family.
He attended elementary school in Tara before leaving for Tokyo to continue his education.
TOKYO
Until c. 1916
Maeda attended middle school in Tokyo and later studied at Keio Gijuku University.
Around 1916, he left the university before completing his studies.
He subsequently completed his military service.
MANCHURIA AND KOREA
c. 1917–1921
Between approximately 1917 and 1921, Maeda appears to have spent time in Manchuria and Korea.
The precise chronology, places of residence and nature of his activities during this period have not yet been established.
SHANGHAI
1921–1945

Maeda moved to Shanghai as an employee of the Dōkō Bōseki cotton-spinning mill.
Shanghai became his principal place of residence for the following two decades.
February 1929
Maeda Matsuo and Kimura Sada(木村サダ)married at the Shanghai Shrine.
November 1929
Their daughter, Toyoko, was born in Shanghai.
During the Sino-Japanese War
Maeda became a customs officer at the Port of Shanghai.
The precise date of his appointment and the circumstances of his employment remain to be established.
1941
His son, Tatsuo, was born in Shanghai.
SHANGHAI — KOREA — JAPAN
1945
Around the middle of 1945, the Maeda family left Shanghai and returned to Japan via Korea.
The precise route and circumstances of their departure remain under investigation.
SHIMANE PREFECTURE
After 1945
After returning to Japan, Maeda withdrew with his family to a mountain village in Shimane Prefecture, the home region of his wife, Kimura Sada.
He lived there during the postwar period.

Maeda Matsuo died in 1983 at a clinic in Tokyo.
